The Muskoka Lakes Museum is situated in the centre of the village of Port Carling, located on scenic James Bartleman Island Park, adjacent to both the large and small locks. Portraying cottage country’s unique history, the museum features interactive displays, children’s activities, illuminating lectures, intriguing walking tours and special events, such as our Butter Tart Festival held annually in July as well as the Canada Day and Thanksgiving Day open house events.
Check out the Winter in Muskoka exhibit and view our newly re-vamped First Nations gallery – and be sure to stop in at our gift shop before you leave which is filled with Muskoka books, souvenirs and kids stuff. Picnic tables and washroom facilities are located on the island as well, so plan to spend a day with your family at the Muskoka Lakes Museum.
