Combine summer sun with Christmas fun and head to SantaFest on July 22, 2017 for some good old-fashioned merriment in downtown Bracebridge, Muskoka – home of world-famous Santa’s Village!
The 3rd annual SantaFest will once again feature entertainment and activities for kids young and old in this picturesque town known as “the heart of Muskoka.”
Running from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm., the kickoff event will be a Santa Fun Run followed by the Santa Claus Parade on Manitoba Street (from the traffic lights near Shoppers’ Drug Mart and heading towards the falls). Starting at 10:50 am, participants are invited to run, jog stroll or skip the 1 km distance – you can even bring a leashed pet! Registration open at 10:00 and costs $30 per family which includes two adult Santa suits to wear and elf hats for the children. The parade starts at 11:00 with Santa himself waving to the crowds from atop his very special float.
There will be face painting for the kids and budding young artists can take part in the Christmas Colouring Contest. Santa’s Workshop will be open for business! Build your very own birdhouse and paint, decorate and personalize it any way you wish. All the tools supplies will be provided, just bring your ideas and enthusiasm. Birdhouse building at Santa’s Workshop fills up fast, so be sure to come early and create your masterpiece.
Experience what it’s like to fly in Santa’s sleigh! Lakeland Power will be running a bucket truck, offering complimentary rides from 1-4pm. Get a bird’s eye view of the festival from high above the streets – a view usually reserved for Santa himself. Those looking for more adventure can also test their balance and agility in the inflatable bouncy castle and obstacle course.
Test out your throwing arm at the SantaFest Dunk Tank. You never know who will be inside. It might be your teacher, an elf, a super hero or even Santa himself. Hit the bulls eye and watch for the splash!
SantaFest will also host a variety of entertainment acts throughout the day. Be sure to watch the special performance by Dan the Music Man. Kids of all ages will love to participate in the show, which will stretch your imagination and tickle your funny bone. The show features clever songs that are designed to both entertain and inspire. Dan the Music Man will be a highlight of the day.
Other events throughout the day include the Town Crier Competition, where participants from across Ontario will gather in full costume to belt it out against each other. There will also be a show by Isabella Hoops, a circus performer based out of Toronto who combines traditional hula-hoops with dance and rhythm to create an exciting display of talents. Stay after the performance for her Hoop Workshop, where you can learn firsthand some of the skills used in the show.
Santa fans and Christmas lovers of all ages should head to SantaFest happening July 22 in downtown Bracebridge. With shopping, dining, kids’ activities, entertainment and appearances by the Jolly Guy himself, the day will be full of Christmas cheer – and more!
