There’s something about blue skies, cooler temperatures and colourful leaves that give us the mighty urge to hit the roads for a fall drive each year. This autumn, add some arts into the mix, pack your bags, and venture off the regular routes to explore the beautiful landscape that inspires artists in the Explorers’ Edge region of Ontario, and to meet these creative folks in their captivating studios.
The Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour
The 36th edition of this prestigious tour – one of the first of its kind in Canada – will take place over two weekends in 2014. On September 27 & 28 and on October 4 & 5, visit over 20 artists in their studios, and encounter their incredible works. Artists include:

The Almaguin Highlands Arts Council – Artscape Studio Tour
Follow the Artscape signs September 26-28 throughout the beautiful Almaguin Highlands region (which starts 20 minutes north of Muskoka). With over a dozen artists and galleries to visit, and perhaps an exciting new destination to explore for some travellers, this annual fall studio tour in Ontario’s “undiscovered cottage country” will delight arts & crafts fans, and those who enjoy some new adventuring. Artscape artists are also participating in the Sweater Weather Tour over the same weekend. The community of Oxtongue Lake (Algonquin Park) is hosting a very special Artists’ Day Festival on Saturday, September 20 at the community centre. A special Group of Seven and Tom Thomson Outdoor Exhibit will be unveiled at noon by A.J. Casson’s daughter Margaret Hall.
On Saturday, October 4, the Town of Huntsville is hosting a Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery (GOSOG) Tour with artistic director (and replica mural painter extraordinaire) Gerry Lantaigne providing insight into the works of these iconic Canadian artists.
