Head to Loring-Restoule to find yourself off the grid, as nature intended.
The northern-most tip of the Explorers’ Edge region features the largest tract of Crown Land south of the French River. Hundreds of lakes with minimal access allow for a genuine wilderness experience, and you can easily be the only one fishing on many of the lakes in this area. The beautiful Pickerel River – over 40 km of navigable waterways – crosses the area and provides hours of great boating and fishing.
The area is also home to the first walleye/pickerel restocking program in the province.
Here are some of the many lakes you’ll find – just to name a few:
Wilson Lake, Commanda Lake, Lake Restoule, as well as back lakes such as Smoky Lake, Arthur Lake, Loon Lake, Bass Lake, Balsam Lake, Windy Lake, Sand Lake, Shoal Lake, Burnt Lake, Clear Lake, and Lemon Lake, which runs into the French River closer to Georgian Bay.
The species you will find in the Loring-Restoule lakes and rivers are: large mouth bass, small mouth bass, walleye/pickerel, muskie, catfish, crappie, carp, white fish, northern pike, lake trout.
