Paint the Trestle – Bridges, Beer and Art in the Biosphere Package
Your afternoon adventure in Parry Sound on Georgian Bay starts with a visit to Trestle Brewing Company for lunch and one of their locally crafted beers on the patio overlooking the Seguin River. Enjoy Trestle’s Northern Board featuring high-quality local products, or choose another menu item yourself from their gastro-inspired menu. After lunch, you’ll be met by a guide from the UNESCO Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve who will accompany you on a short walking tour from the brewery across the Seguin River bridge and along the waterfront trail to the town dock.
Along the way, you’ll learn about The Group of Seven and Tom Thomson’s connection to the Parry Sound area. This gentle walk will take you by the rapids to the artist station where you’ll meet landscape painter, Jessica Vergeer, and witness the stunning view of the 32 meter-high Trestle Railway Bridge that Thomson painted in 1914. From there, it’s on to Jessica’s downtown studio where she will lead you through a step-by-step class, painting the Trestle from the same perspective as Thomson did 105 years ago. With your completed painting in hand, it’s a short walk back to Trestle Brewing for a tour to learn about their all-natural brewing process. The rest of the day is yours!
To take part in this package, depart the Explorers’ Edge Shuttle from Route 2 at Trestle Brewing Company in Parry Sound.
This package will be available:
