This Mother’s Day weekend, thank Mom (or Grandma, or Aunt Sarah, or the woman who has always been like a mother to you) for everything she does by treating her to a special getaway to the Explorers’ Edge region of Ontario.
Looking for a unique way to celebrate your wonderful Mom – besides the traditional bouquet of flowers? Consider booking a weekend getaway for her at an accommodation found in Algonquin Park, the Almaguin Highlands, Loring-Restoule, Muskoka or Parry Sound. Spring is one of the best times to book in cottage country because off-season rates are available, there’s plenty of choice, and the pristine, natural landscape that’s coming to life after a long (long!) winter evokes feelings of relaxation and rejuvenation. There’s also a lot to do.
Hike the Woods
The snow has melted and forested trails are opening up to avid and recreational hikers, including those on some resort properties. Experience Ontario’s woodlands up close and personal, and see further through the branches before the lush foliage of summer returns.
Hit the Spa
She takes care of everyone else, now it’s her turn for some TLC. Choose one of many fine resort and day spas throughout the region and book her an indulgent getaway, where she’ll be pampered, wined and dined.
Attend Special Events
Treat her to a weekend of fun at one of many special events taking place. She’ll enjoy a night of laughter at the annual Mother’s Day Comedy Gala or at the celebration of mothers at the annual Walking in My Mother’s Shoes.
Book her a round at one of the many uniquely designed golf courses in the region, every one of them set against a spectacular natural backdrop.
Take her out to one of the region’s exceptional dining establishments, many featuring local food ingredients. Complement the dining experience with a trip to one of the award-winning breweries and winery in the area.
