For close to 150 years, Muskoka and the surrounding regions have been known as a summer vacation hotspot – the land of towering trees, fresh air, and an endless chain of stunning lakes and rivers just north of Toronto. These days, the area is also gaining fame as the heart of the growing craft beer movement in Ontario.
With the long-established Muskoka Brewery located in Bracebridge, as well as newer companies like Highlander Brew Co. in South River, Lake of Bays Brewing Co. in Baysville, and Sawdust City Brewing Co. in Gravenhurst – this neck of the Ontario woods is beer lovers’ paradise, and thirsty travellers can look forward to sampling 20 distinct beers that are brewed locally.
So it’s no surprise that one of the hottest tickets in the region this summer is the Session Muskoka craft beer festival taking place in Bracebridge on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 1pm to 8pm at Annie Williams Park.
The 6th annual edition of Muskoka’s anticipated beer festival will see 25+ brewers gather along the shores of the beautiful Muskoka River to share outstanding brews and delicious eats with sun-kissed craft beer fans.
Adding to the celebration will be live music performances by incredible artists, including Tokyo Police Club, Simply Queen, Bad Luck Woman & Her Misfortunes (best band name EVER), and Tasha & The Sweet Talkers.
A great beer festival always includes great eats, and Session Muskoka will showcase some of the region’s finest culinary establishments, including the Muskoka Natural Food Market, El Pueblito Mexican Restaurant, Ronnie’s Wood Fire Pizza, Sully’s Muskoka Gourmand, Cups & Cones Authentic Gelato, and the Griffin Gastropub.
Created by Griffin Gastropub owners Curt Dunlop and Jed Corbeil, Session Muskoka is a signature craft beer event in Ontario that bears the imprint of the duo’s renowned culinary and musical influence. Curators of multiple events under their Griffin Session brand (including Ontario Craft Beer Week’s Session Toronto at Yonge & Dundas Square every June), the annual beer festival in Muskoka, their home stomping ground, is guaranteed to delight craft beer, foodie and music fans alike.
