It’s no surprise that Ontario’s most popular summer destinations has plenty of great festivals and events this that will entice you off the dock. Things get going in July – a month chock full of neat things to see and do, and to eat, drink and be merry. Here is just a partial selection of what you’ll find.
Carbo load for a month’s worth of events at the 2nd Annual Butter Tart Festival at the Muskoka Lakes Museum on Friday, July 5th. Celebrate 100 years of boat racing in Muskoka at the 33rd Annual Antique & Classic Boat Show at the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst on Saturday, July 6th.
Jam to roots, rocks, and music at the 4th Annual Reggae Muskoka Festival July 6-7 in Bracebridge. Join the 10th Anniversary Celebrations of the opening of the Stockey Centre and the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame in Parry Sound the week of July 7-13, with tons of activities for the whole family, from concerts to a Children’s Slow Pitch Tournament. And while in Parry Sound, enjoy great eats at the 2nd Annual Ribfest, July 11-14.
Port Severn, Muskoka hosts the annual Just Add Water Festival from July 11-14, featuring a midway, exhibits, ATV rides, geocaching and a concert on the 13th featuring Canadian rock icons Honeymoon Suite, Prism, and Julian Austin.
The Huntsville Festival of the Arts hosts the 3rd Annual Nuit Blanche North event on July 13, an evening of revelry and performance art for the entire family. Canada’s most popular summer classical music event, The Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound, runs July 18 to August 11, and features some of the best classical musicians on the planet.
The 1st Annual Muskoka Motorcycle Rally takes place at the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst July 19-20. Also that weekend, it’s the 51st Annual Muskoka Arts & Crafts Summer Show in Annie Williams Park, Bracebridge, July 19-21. Parry Sound also hosts exceptional artists and their works at the annual Art in the Park event July 19-21.
From July 20-August 11, explore the works of more than 40 artists at the annual outdoor exhibit, The Artful Garden in Bracebridge. Fans of Lucy Maud Montgomery will celebrate “Everything Anne Day” at the Bala Museum on July 24. And the Huntsville Festival of the Arts and Shutterbug Gallery host the 5th Annual en Plein Air fringe event July 25 downtown.
Country music comes to cottage country with the Country in the Woods Festival in Parry Sound July 26-28. Very old things come to cottage country July 26-28 with the Muskoka Antique Show in Port Carling. Water sport and boating enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Muskoka in-Water Boat & Cottage Show July 26-28, and carnivores can check out Muskoka Ribfest in Gravenhurst July 26-28.
