Coming to you this January from the wilderness north of Toronto: the ultimate pandemic stress release.
Join our full moon guided wolf howl to perfect your technique – and then let it all out in your own backyard! Aaaaooooooooow!
A full moon is coming on January 28, 2021, and Explorers’ Edge invites everyone in the world to connect with us virtually for a guided wolf howl that evening, when outdoor adventurer and naturalist Robin Tapley will show us how it’s done. This event takes place from 8pm to 8:45pm EST.
It’s our way of bringing a little of the great Canadian wilderness into your living room while we’re all waiting to travel safely again.
And what better way to celebrate what’s known in the almanacs as “The Wolf Moon” than to let your Covid frustrations out with the rest of your baying bubble?
Who’s Zooming Who
Co-owner of Canadian Adventure Expeditions, a guide company offering canoe and kayak trips in Algonquin Park and on Georgian Bay, Robin Tapley is also an outdoor adventure instructor at Fanshawe College and a renowned nature photographer. So, let’s just say his personal habitat involves being in the woods or on the water as much as possible!
He’s also incredibly talented when it comes to doing bird and animal calls, and so on January 28, in addition to teaching us a little about wolves and how they communicate, we’ll also learn how to imitate a barred owl and a moose, among other wonderful Canadian creatures.
Robin will be joined by a “Guest Wolf Pack”, who will help him demonstrate how wolves communicate for the rest of our audience. These special guests include: Jim Byers, Canadian travel writing icon and former Toronto Star travel editor; Dan Watson, Executive Director of the Huntsville Festival of the Arts; Remy Smith, Morning Host at Moose FM 99.5; and Mercy Turnbull, a nine-year-old delight from Windermere, Muskoka (because this event is great fun for kids too)!
Special Prizes For Baying Bubbles
Once you’ve had a little instruction from ‘Robin & The Wolf Pack’, head outside your own home wherever you are to try howling at the Wolf Moon yourselves. Send us photos or videos of your baying bubble in action for us to share on social and you’ll be entered to win amazing prizes, including a guided canoe trip for four with Canadian Adventure Expeditions, a trip for four with Parry Sound’s Islander Adventure Tours to tour Huckleberry Island on beautiful Georgian Bay, and $200 in ‘Downtown Dollars’ from the Parry Sound Downtown Business Association . (Note: all prizes are redeemable only when it is safe/legal to do so according to federal, provincial and municipal regulations/restrictions due to Covid-19.)
