Summary of Position

Responsible for the bar area and serving alcoholic beverages to guests, requiring exceptional customer service.

Key Relationships

Internally: Provide all essential information to department heads and employees.

Externally: Continuous contact with all guests requiring exceptional guest relations.

Qualifications

Education

Essential:
1. High School Diploma or Vocational equivalent.
2. Ability to communicate and comprehend both orally and written in English with employees and customers.
3. Smart Serve certificate.
4. Ability to compute mathematical calculations.

Desirable:
1. Hospitality & Tourism related diploma and/or certificate.

Knowledge

Essential:
1. A minimum of 1-year experience in food & beverage and/or bartending.

Desirable:
1. Previous hotel and resort experience.
2. Previous experience with the use of “Silverware” POS system

Skills & Abilities

Essential:
1. Excellent customer service skills in order to maintain an exceptional rapport with customers and employees.
2. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast paced environment.
3. Excellent communications skills with an enthusiastic attitude.
4. Ability to work cooperatively with employees and managers as part of a team.
5. Ability to focus attention on details, prioritize, organize and follow up.

Mental Effort required to perform the job:

· Extensive mental attentiveness and listening is required when handling guests.

· Ability to handle customer complaints and listen to customer concerns and suggestions.

Physical Effort required to perform the job:

  • Standing on a hard surface for long periods of time.
  • Moderate degree of bending, stretching and lifting beer cases and ice while stocking the bar, up to 25 lbs.
  • Continuous lifting of trays while walking and bending to serve customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with company and departmental policies and procedures.

2. Maintain related knowledge of fire and health & safety policies & procedures.

3. Maintain company and professional knowledge within the bartending function by attending training workshops, meetings and continuing education courses as needed.

4. Maintain client and company confidence by keeping information confidential.

5. Maintain a positive working relationship with team members and management as part of a team.

8. Assist in setting up and organizing department work area with designated supplies and maintain cleanliness at all times.

9. Responsible for providing excellent customer service and professional communication at all times with guests, visitors and employees.

10. Ensure that all guests and visitors are greeted as per the standard greetings at all times.

11. Handle guest complaints and issues efficiently and effectively as per company policy & procedures while maintaining excellent customer service.

12. Serve all customers as per smart serve requirements.

13. Prepare beverages according to standard recipes.

14. Balance cash and verify postings daily as per company policy and procedures.

15. Maintain the cleanliness of the bar area and dining room.

16. Responsible for keeping the bar stocked at all times.

17. Serve in the dining room as necessary. Refer to Server job description for detail.

18. Responsible for “lock up” procedures of the resort as per company standards.

  • Ensure cash box/till is accurate and all money is accounted for daily.
  • Ensure accuracy in regards to handling and recording payments properly and cash receipts.
  • Responsible for cash shortages on shift as per company policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for alcohol shortages and spillage on shift.
  • Suggest new and less expensive ways of performing tasks, systems etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS while performing the job:

  • Required to work indoors and outdoors therefore climate will vary.
  • Works frequently with a variety of bar tools i.e. opener, shaker, mixer etc.
  • Uses a variety of cleaning products (please see MSDS in department)
  • Works frequently with a variety of financial machines i.e. interact, visa, P.O.S machines etc.

Bayview Wildwood is an organized workplace where team members are represented by Unifor Local 1411, and wage rates and conditions of employment are contained in a three-year collective agreement valid to January 31, 2025.
