Din’s Fresh Fries is a vibrant food stand located at the Lake of Bays Garden Center, known for serving up hot, crispy fries and other delicious snacks to visitors enjoying the garden center’s offerings. Position Overview
As a Din’s Fresh Fries Team Member, you will assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of fresh fries and other menu items. You’ll also provide excellent customer service, handle sales transactions, and keep the work area clean and inviting. You’ll be central in ensuring guests have a memorable visit to both Din’s Fresh Fries and the Lake of Bays Garden Center.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare potatoes and other ingredients according to Din’s Fresh Fries standards, ensuring proper portion sizes and consistency.
- Assist Chef as required operating fryers and related kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all health, safety, and food handling regulations to maintain a clean, hygienic environment.
Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly, provide menu information, and make recommendations when asked.
- Accurately take and enter orders using a point-of-sale system (POS).
- Serve orders promptly and respond to customer inquiries or concerns with a helpful, positive attitude.
Sales Transactions & Cash Handling
- Process payments via cash, credit, or other approved methods, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Count and balance the cash register at the beginning or end of shifts as required.
Store Maintenance & Cleanliness
- Maintain a neat and organized service area, restocking supplies (e.g., utensils, condiments) as needed.
- Regularly clean countertops, fryers, and cooking utensils to meet health and safety standards.
- Assist with opening and closing tasks, including setting up or breaking down equipment and disposing of waste properly.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other team members, communicating effectively to keep service running smoothly.
- Participate in restocking, rotating inventory, and notifying the Supervisor or Owner when supplies need replenishing.
- Contribute ideas for menu improvements, promotions, or new offerings to attract customers.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience
- Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or customer service is a plus but not mandatory; we will train the right candidate.
- A strong interest in food preparation and customer-facing roles.
Key Competencies
- Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn and adapt.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.
Physical Requirements
- Comfort working on your feet for extended periods, often in a warm environment.
- Ability to lift or move moderate-weight items (e.g., boxes of potatoes, oil containers).
