Tourism Marketing & Promotions Assistant

The Bracebridge Chamber of Commerce is seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded student to join our team this summer as a Tourism Marketing & Promotions Assistant through the Government of Ontario’s 2025 Summer Employment Opportunities (SEO) Program.

This is a hands-on opportunity to help promote local attractions, support visitors to the area, and gain valuable experience in tourism communications and frontline customer service—right here in the heart of Muskoka.

Position Overview

Working out of the Visitor Information Centre (VIC), the Tourism Assistant will:

• Greet and assist tourists in person, by phone, and by email
• Provide up-to-date information about local businesses, events, and attractions
• Help maintain and distribute tourism brochures, maps, and guides
• Support basic digital marketing tasks such as social media updates, photos, or event listings
• Assist with content collection and visitor engagement initiatives
• Work alongside Chamber staff, local organizations, and community partners. Trained and supervised by the Chamber’s Communications & Events staff. Support will include on-the-job guidance in digital communications and customer service

Who Should Apply

To be eligible, you must:

• Be at least 15 years old
• Be a resident of Ontario and legally eligible to work in Canada
• Be currently enrolled in high school, college, or university, or have graduated within the past 6 months. This is a grant-funded opportunity, proof of enrollment required for eligibility.
• Have strong verbal and written communication
• Be reliable, outgoing, and interested in tourism, communications, or working with the public
• Be comfortable using email, search tools, or basic digital platforms (social media, Canva, etc.)

You don’t need to be an expert—just someone who’s curious, eager to learn, and ready to support your community.

Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $17.20-$18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 35 per week

Schedule:

• Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Bracebridge, ON P1L 1S4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
