Partner Spotlight – Commanda Museum – Summerfest Celebration

Supported by the Explorers’ Edge Partnership Fund, the Commanda Museum successfully delivered its 2025 Summerfest, building on the strong community engagement of its inaugural 2024 event. This grassroots cultural festival celebrates local heritage and creativity while positioning Commanda and surrounding communities as vibrant rural tourism destinations.

The 2025 partnership focused on increasing visibility beyond the immediate area and enhancing event infrastructure to welcome more visitors. New initiatives included collecting postal codes to track visitor origin and offering engagement incentives, providing foundational data to guide future growth and support a transition to a ticketed format.

Through Summerfest, the Commanda community highlighted its unique culture, strengthened regional storytelling, and fostered tourism activity that benefits local businesses. By supporting this emerging community-led event, Explorers’ Edge helped establish Summerfest as a sustainable cultural tourism product, contributing to economic development, encouraging extended stays, and laying the groundwork for continued growth in underrepresented areas of the region.
