Partnership Spotlight – South River Wayfinding
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Heritage & Gateway Signage Revitalization Project, led by the Village of South River, a community initiative designed to celebrate South River’s heritage, strengthen their tourism brand, and enhance the visitor experience. This project will deliver a cohesive, visually distinctive signage system that reflects their community’s character and aligns with regional tourism goals. Key locations, including the South River Hydroelectric Dam, Train Station, Highway 124 gateway, and central gathering areas, will feature new interpretive, wayfinding, and promotional signage that tell the story of our hydroelectric and railway history.
Visitors can also look forward to fun, interactive elements like a photo cutout prop and portable signage for seasonal events and promotions, all professionally designed for durability and impact.
Through this initiative, South River is continuing to grow as a welcoming, historically rich destination that fosters community pride and supports the broader Explorers’ Edge tourism strategy.
The historic South River Train Station, now the Community Heritage Centre, remains a cornerstone of the village’s story. The weathered sign shown here is one of the many heritage features set to be refreshed through the Heritage & Gateway Signage Revitalization Project, ensuring this iconic site continues to welcome visitors with clarity, character, and renewed impact.
