Building What Comes Next, Together
An Open Community Conversation on 2SLGBTQI+ Inclusion, Tourism & Belonging
Tuesday, November 24, 2026 | 7:00–9:00 p.m. | Via Zoom
The conversations have started. The relationships are growing. The research is in. Now, we want to hear from you.
Over the past several years, Explorers’ Edge has worked alongside 2SLGBTQI+ community members, advocates, businesses and regional partners to help build a more welcoming and inclusive region.
From our original DIVA Dialogues to community partnerships, Pride celebrations, industry training and destination development, this work has been shaped by the people who live, work and welcome visitors across Muskoka, Parry Sound, Almaguin Highlands, Loring-Restoule, Algonquin Park and South Algonquin.
Whether you’ve been part of this journey from the beginning or are hearing about it for the first time, you’re invited to join the conversation.
Building on Our Progress
Two significant research initiatives completed in 2026 are helping inform our next steps.
The Canadian Queer Chamber of Commerce’s Destination Assessment and Audit recognizes the progress made through the DIVA Dialogues, community engagement, Rainbow Registered training and regional partnerships. It also identifies opportunities to strengthen community representation, business support, inclusive visitor experiences and long-term collaboration.
Meanwhile, Destination Ontario’s 2026 2SLGBTQI+ Travel Research reinforces the importance of safety, belonging and authentic inclusion. It also identifies opportunities for smaller communities, nature-based destinations and cultural experiences.

In research specific to travellers aware of Muskoka, Parry Sound and Algonquin Park:
- 44% identified nature and outdoor experiences as a reason to consider visiting Ontario.
- 42% were interested in 2SLGBTQI+ culture and community spaces.
- 36% identified Pride and 2SLGBTQI+ events.
The findings are encouraging, but they also remind us that creating a welcoming region requires more than marketing. It requires community leadership, practical support and sustained partnerships.
Help Shape What Comes Next
As Explorers’ Edge develops its next three-to-five-year organizational strategy, we’re inviting the community to help identify priorities and opportunities.
Our November 24 conversation will explore:
- What’s changed since the original DIVA Dialogues, and where do challenges remain?
- How can we better support community organizations, Pride events, businesses and inclusive experiences?
- What opportunities exist for new partnerships, programming, training and investment?
- Where can Explorers’ Edge best contribute through leadership, coordination, funding support or advocacy?
This isn’t about presenting a finished plan. It’s about listening, reconnecting and deciding what we can realistically accomplish together.
Everyone Is Welcome
Whether you’re a community member, advocate, ally, business owner, event organizer or simply interested in contributing, we’d value your perspective.
You don’t need to have participated before. In fact, we’re particularly interested in welcoming new voices and perspectives from across the region.
