Tourism is changing … and Explorers’ Edge is evolving with it.
Explorers’ Edge welcomes expressions of interest from business owners, entrepreneurs and community leaders who want to help shape the future of tourism across our destination.
Our Board already benefits from significant experience in tourism, hospitality, outdoor recreation, marketing, entrepreneurship and business operations. As the organization moves into its next chapter, we are also interested in continuing to broaden the range of perspectives, industries and expertise represented around the Board table.
Explorers’ Edge is governed by a Board of between 7 and 11 Directors, providing flexibility to bring together a strong mix of experience, perspectives and sector knowledge as the organization continues to evolve.
Our work increasingly reaches beyond traditional destination marketing. Explorers’ Edge is advancing new approaches to visitor intelligence, transportation and access, regenerative destination development, travel packaging and sales, digital commerce, operator development, inclusion and sustainable rural economic growth.
We are particularly interested in hearing from leaders who can bring entrepreneurial thinking and experience from tourism or complementary sectors, including technology and digital business, transportation, finance and investment, economic development, sustainability, community development and emerging visitor experiences.
We are also interested in leaders who can bring a broader perspective to the Board table, connecting the realities of our local tourism economy with emerging opportunities, partnerships and trends across Ontario and Canada.
As a Director, you will have the opportunity to:
- Help shape what rural tourism looks like next as visitor behaviour, technology and the tourism economy continue to change.
- Guide new business models and revenue opportunities, including Explorers’ Edge’s growing travel trade and package-sales activities.
- Bring new perspectives to the Board table from tourism and the many sectors that increasingly intersect with the visitor economy.
- Champion tourism operators and communities, ensuring their realities continue to inform our strategy.
- Support regenerative destination development that creates lasting economic, social and environmental value.
- Help improve how visitors access and experience the destination, from transportation to trip planning and conversion.
- Provide strong strategic governance as Explorers’ Edge continues to test new approaches to destination development.
We welcome experienced tourism leaders, but we also encourage entrepreneurs and leaders who may not have previously considered serving on a tourism board.
